GPTech’s Development Practice Area staff works with international development agencies to find solutions to the most pressing development, regulatory, and policy challenges that communities face. Our core areas are agriculture and food security, training and capacity-building on productive uses of energy, water supply and water resources management, environmental management, access to finance, and trade facilitation.

Our practice area supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals; specifically, Goal 6, “Water and Sanitation for All,” Goal 7, “Affordable and Clean Energy,” Goal 11, “Sustainable Cities and Communities,” and Goal 13, “Climate Action.”

We specialize in the following areas:

  • Capacity-building, including knowledge and skills transfer through technical assistance and the professionalization of services;

  • Advisory services for planning and management of energy, water, sanitation, and food/agricultural resources to improve the livelihoods of people around the globe;

  • Policy, legal, and regulatory assistance to support government and quasi-governmental institutions to identify, design, implement, and monitor technology investments;

  • Innovative financing solutions for energy, water, sanitation, and food/agricultural investments;

  • Communication strategic planning, including writing and editing support, events and outreach support, graphic design support, and media relations;

  • Integrating agricultural and water resource management technologies into conservation farming systems;

  • Resource investment financing solution analysis, including crowd-sourcing, credit enhancement, and project preparation facility activities;

  • Development assistance to send signals to the market that private-sector investment is safe and protected by policies, laws, regulations, and contract enforcement;

  • Public-private partnership identification, facilitation, and support at the nexus of energy, water, and resilient technologies for communities and institutions; and

  • Institutional assistance for compliance and upgrading of procurement processes and procedures.
