Location(s): Research conducted in Washington, D.C., for projects in Latin America and Caribbean countries

Project Description:

USTDA connects the U.S. private sector to infrastructure projects in emerging energy markets in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This mission is achieved by funding feasibility studies, technical assistance, and pilot projects that integrate the innovation and expertise of U.S. companies. USTDA also connects overseas project sponsors with U.S. partners through reverse trade missions, industry conferences, and expert workshops.

GPTech provided a wide range of technical services to support USTDA in its efforts to vet project funding opportunities. GPTech was subject matter expert, providing technical expertise on project feasibility. Such reviews required a detailed examination of social, environmental, historical, operational, technical, political, and financial barriers that would prevent or hinder project completion. Projects covered a wide variety of topics, including geothermal, biogas, tidal power, microgrids, utility modernization and regulation, and solar. Materials produced during this contract focused on the energy sector in LAC and examined cost and scope through terms of reference and budget.

Goals & Achievements:

Throughout the course of this project, GPTech completed 19 short assessment reports. Some of these were advanced for more in-depth review as full project reports. During this contract, GPTech completed 10 full project reports.
